Functor Homology and Operadic Homology

The purpose of these notes is to define an equivalence between the natural homology theories associated to operads and the homology of functors over certain categories of operators (PROPs) related to operads.

Stable Homology via Functor Homology

This text is a preliminary version of material used for a course at the University of Copenhagen, part of ”Workshop and Masterclass on Homological stability” August 26-30, 2013. This lecture concerns the method developped, in collaboration with Aurélien Djament, in [DV10] and used in [Dja12] and [DVa] to compute the stable homology of a family of groups with coefficients given by a polynomial f...

On the Cubical Homology Groups of Free Partially Commutative Monoids

We study a Leech homology of a locally bounded free partially commutative monoid M(E, I). Given a contravariant natural system of abelian groups F on M(E, I) we build a precubical set T (E, I) with a homological system of abelian groups F and prove that the Leech homology groups Hn(M(E, I), F ) are isomorphic to the cubical homology groups Hn(T (E, I), F ), n > 0. As a consequence we have confi...

Church-Rosser Property and Homology of Monoids

We present a result of C. C. Squier relating two topics: • the canonical rewriting systems, which have been widely studied by computer scientists as a tool for solving word problems, • the homology of groups (more generally of monoids), which belongs to the core of pure mathematics, on the borders of algebra and topology. It is natural to ask whether finite canonical systems are the only way to...
